Commercial development was proposed north of the intersection of Ellerslie Road and 70th Street, an arterial and collector road in Edmonton, Alberta. The existing controlled T-intersection was modified to a controlled intersection to provide access to the proposed development without altering the overall geometry of the intersection. In addition to the access, turning lanes to the proposed development were added to the east and west approaches of Ellerslie Road to reduce the impact of the commercial development to the existing roadway. Due to the anticipated pedestrian traffic from the Summerside neighbourhood and further development of adjacent properties, pedestrian accommodation was included during the engineering design.
