Grouard Area Structure Plan

The Grouard ASP repealed and updated the original Area Structure Plan that was adopted in 2009. The intent behind this project was to review the ASP against the County's newly updated Municipal Development Plan and Land Use Bylaw to ensure its conformance. The Hamlet of Grouard is one of the oldest settlements in Big Lakes County and was founded on a rich Indigenous history. Once considered to be the capital of Alberta, the railway bypassing the Town in favour of the southern shore of Lesser Slave Lake. Today, Grouard's history continues to stay present in the built environment through important historic landmarks in the community that provide employment, education, and recreational opportunities to local residents.
