Harvie Heights Area Redevelopment Plan

The Harvie Heights Area Redevelopment Plan (ARP) was initiated by the MD of Bighorn to fill a longstanding gap in policy that currently exists within the hamlet boundary. This policy gap has resulted in a level of uncertainty for residents, developers, businesses, and the MD about what the future of the hamlet will and should look like. The intent of the ARP is to provide guidance on the redevelopment of primarily commercial properties, in consideration of the existing residential community, through updated policy and commercial design guidelines.

Invistec, as the project manager, was tasked with preparing and obtaining approvals for an Area Redevelopment Plan (ARP) for the Hamlet of Harvie Heights. This included drafting policies and figures, completing civil engineering memorandums (traffic, stormwater, servicing), creating updated commercial design guidelines, and engaging with stakeholders and the public. Invistec created a robust public engagement program that included mailouts, surveys, and project webpage updates in addition to two open house events, meetings with key stakeholders, and support at the Public Hearing.
