Rabbit Hill Crossing

Transportation Planning, Transportation Infrastructure Design

The Rabbit Hill Crossing development was proposed at the southeast corner of Mullen Road and Rabbit Hill Road in Edmonton, Alberta. A total of three commercial accesses were proposed to service the development, one access from Rabbit Hill Road and two accesses from Mullen Road. Rabbit Hill Road, an arterial road that experiences heavy traffic from Anthony Henday Drive and surrounding areas was limited to two lanes in both directions. To mitigate traffic congestion at the Rabbit Hill Road access, an additional lane was added until Mullen Road. Mullen Road, a collector road travelling through the Mactaggart neighbourhood is a two-lane roadway. A challenge during the design and construction of each access was matching the existing infrastructure and working around the existing trees.
