Scott Mackie

After growing up in Edmonton, Scott joined the City’s Transportation Department in the 1980s working in various roles in operations and planning. In 1989, he was recruited to work for the City of Calgary where he introduced the use of computer simulation for conducting traffic impact assessments. While in Calgary he completed two degrees at the University of Calgary, a Bachelor of Science and a Master’s in Business Administration. During his time with the City, Scott worked in various roles and transitioned from transportation to land use planning.

Scott returned to Edmonton in 2009 to lead the Current Planning Branch for the City of Edmonton. In this role he became known to many people in the business community for his no-nonsense approach and ability to solve problems. During his tenure, Scott introduced many improvements to planning processes and established systems for measuring performance and timelines. After a career in municipal government spanning 35 years, Scott retired from the City of Edmonton in 2015. Not ready to settle down, Scott created his own consulting company and has been providing strategic support and advice to municipalities and the land development industry. After four years in the private sector, Scott decided to take his consulting work to the next level as he joined forces with Ken Liu at Invistec Consulting Ltd. in 2019.

Scott continues to spend much of his time watching his sons as they remain active in hockey, soccer, and volleyball. They often let Scott participate in a volleyball game (as long as he doesn’t get in the way). Scott brings the same spirit, passion, and ambition from his family life to his professional life. He believes a strong work ethic and great relationships lead to great outcomes as he continues to contribute to projects across the region and beyond.
